Tries to get your PDF under 100 KB and shows the final size in bytes. The file never leaves this device.

BrowseHow to get a PDF under 100 KB
- Drop your PDF on the box above. The target is already set to Under 100 KB.
- Click Compress. FilesStay starts with gentle settings and gets stricter only if it needs to.
- Check the result line. It says whether the file made it, the exact byte count, and which image setting was used.
- Open the downloaded file and make sure the text is still readable before you submit it.
Can every PDF be made 100 KB?
No, and any tool that promises it is either cutting pages or turning text into a blurry picture. 100 KB is small: a single phone photo is often 2–4 MB. Here is what usually happens:
- A one- or two-page scan or photo (ID card, certificate, signed form) usually fits.
- A text document exported from Word is often already under 100 KB, or close to it.
- A long scan with many pages may not fit even at the harshest setting. Remove pages you do not need with Remove pages, or split it into parts.
We aim for under 100,000 bytes, so the file passes whether the site counts a kilobyte as 1,000 or 1,024 bytes.
Why it might look softer
To reach a small target the tool lowers JPEG quality and shrinks large images. Text that is real text (you can select it) stays sharp. Text that is part of a scanned image gets softer as the target gets smaller. If a scan becomes hard to read, try 200 KB if the form allows it.
Questions
Is it guaranteed to be under 100 KB?
No. It searches ten settings, from gentle to harsh, for the gentlest one that fits. If none fit, it tells you and gives you the smallest version it made.
Why does the form say my 99 KB file is too big?
Some sites count 1 KB as 1,000 bytes and some as 1,024. FilesStay aims below 100,000 bytes to be safe either way, and shows the exact byte count.
Is my document uploaded?
No. Compression runs in your browser. You can turn off Wi‑Fi after the page loads and it still works.
